It should be noted that not all religions believe in a diety or supernatural being.

Between the mainstream and non-mainstream religions, there are so many religions which vary so greatly in beliefs and practices....

I think the only ones I can come up with is that:
1) All religions are man-made.
2) All religions have some sort of ritualistic practice. (Whether it be going to church, altar rituals, meditation, etc. The ritualistic practice in and of itself can vary greatly depending on the religion, but each religion seems to have them.)

I can only come up with the two. Sorry.

1. A differentiation between what is sacred and what is worldly (includes a moral code, taboos, required actions, etc.)

2. An attempt to answer existential questions (includes, usually, an origin story, and includes beliefs and rituals involved in relating to the unseen & unmeasureable)

3. Rituals designed to confirm social cohesion

1) Belief in some sort of deity, supernatural being, or superhuman capability.
2) Emotional manipulation of human insecurities.
3) Some claim that a person has access to supernatural knowledge, communication with a diety, or superhuman insight.
