I am writing a novel and desperately need to know what the last year of uni is like for the architecture student...i will be very happy to include you in my book as a character so please give me as much of the curriculum as possible and the difficulties or high points...

Diffrent programs are diffrent. For us the majority of our focus was on Senior Thesis, a huge semester long project culminating in a "jury" where architects come in from the surrounding cities and tear your project to pecies.

Besides that we took pholosophy, reseach, and architectural electives.

Once you are in final year you are more relaxed, because they are not going to kick you out of the program (that happens 3rd or 4th year) but the stress of putting together a portfolio and finding a job, especially in a weak economy as architecture jobs are closely linked to the economy takes its tolls.

If you are doing research you would be well served to visit an architecture building around 3 or 4 in the morning when all the students are slap happy and will give you the dirt on their professors.
