Especially the ones closest to you, and even your work/clients. Am I just expected to do my part which should be honoring God and following the bible the best way in my relationships with others?

It has noting to do with a belief or non belief in a god. Sure you can make another person happy. Happens all the time.

no. what IS true is that sometimes people aren't worth the effort.
For example, if it would take me 3 hours a day for 3 years to reform a hard-core meth addict then let's face it. he isn't worth the effort. that means 3 hours a day thru Christmas, Thanksgiving, B-days, Anniversaries..... **** him. I'll give him 3 hrs a week and he can deal with it or do without.
ultimately you can plz any one person but its a matter of whether or not that person is worthy of your efforts. And many times, like it or not, they simply aren't worth the effort.

One can provide others the 'stuff' to make them happy (influence); but the decision to be happy is up to them (control).
Some people can be happy without the 'stuff'.

well, you can make a person happy for a moment in life, but true happiness comes from with-in. Knowing God, and Loving yourself.
if these things are not in place. then No one will be truly happy.

You can't make someone happy.
