If I leave the oven light on while cooking something will it affect the cook time or the temperature??

I've wondered the same thing, and to test it out, I have a thermometer in the oven, and checked to see if it made a difference. There was no marked temperature increase with the oven light on.

No, it does not affect either. Just think about it...the thermostat
controls the oven temperature. The temperature of the bulb
could never exceed or even come close to the temperature of the gas fire or electrical heat.

It should shut off when you shut the door, your oven has an option to leave it on while cooking. It shouldnt affect the time to cook or temp. But to be safe leave it off you dont need it on while cooking

No, the oven light is of very small wattage and generates almost no heat, like a Christmas tree light bulb.

Not to my knowledge. I've left it on before to watch the progress of say, bread. Or something that needs to get bubbly or brown and that way I don't have to keep opening the door to let the heat out.
