There's this woman I know - I met her over the summer and I suspect that she's been sexually involved with her brother for some time. Her family has a history of incest (she told me her uncles repetedly raped her mom when they were kids)
So it didn't suprise me when I got the suspicion that she and her younger brother had been sleeping together since they were kids (she's 34, her brother's 32 and did a year in jail for raping a woman).
Basically, she treated him more like a boyfriend than a brother - and he was a very possessive boyfriend (he was the only person allowed to visit her at her apartment - she wasn't allowed to have any other visitors - the super couldn't even come up to fix stuff, her brother would do it instead)
How common is this? Are their a lot of women in incestuous relationships with their brothers?

Not that I've ever heard of. That is very uncommon and very wrong. This woman needs some intense therapy and so does her brother. The problems do most likely stem from the abuse they observed and/or suffered as children. Think about it--when you see something going on as a kid, you don't know it's wrong; it just is what it is. You think that's the way it should be. Sounds like this woman and her brother are maybe stuck in that thought pattern, although one would think that by now they would see it thru adult eyes and realize it's not normal. But for whatever reason, they don't see it that way. They need some serious counseling to dig thru the mountain of misconceptions, guilt, and sexual and emotional dysfunctions. I hope they can get this soon.

It happens; as unfortunate as it may be, it does happen. This is a very dysfunctial family and I believe your best bet is to just walk away. Hell, run for that matter. They are both grown adults - there is not much the law could do about it. However, if ther e are any kids involved in this family and if you know that they are being abused, YOU MUST report it!

I hope this is a very bad attempt at a very sick joke. This is not the norm, nor is it acceptable behavior. This if true is a very dysfunctional and enmeshed family. They have need of some intense counseling and psychological assistance. I would run from this women as fast as possible, her views and ideas of a normal and healthy family are very distorted. The Answer is not very many!! it must be very very rare!!! especially if they have grown up together etc. Its different if it involves rape as its not consensual sex and in that case she needs to talk to someone. It is also more acceptable if they are step brother and sister!

There was this brother and sister that went to my high school... they were really poor... and they were reallllllyyy u*gly and they talked all the time about how they slept together... it would make everyone gag... but Im not sure if they were just d*rks who thought it was cool to have sex and would say that... or if it was true... the sister use to blush everytime her brother would say it infront of a crowd..

My ex had strange relationship with his sister, she was possessive of him, and he used to say"how high" when she said jump. She did nothing but critiize everything I did and said, and it got to the point where I didint want to be around her at all, because every time I did she would call him with her critique of me first thing the next morning, and then he would call me saying"my sister said this, my sister said that, you have to stop that" We broke up when he told me "you have to make friends with her"
