Everyone seems to say cold or cool cloths on your head, but in my experience, I need heat to soothe them. You can just put a washcloth under the hottest water you can stand to ring out and lay it across your forehead. I have a Hot/Cold pack that I normally keep in the freezer for my kids boo-boos, but when I have a headache, I put it in the microwave for a minute or so. The heat last longer than the using the washcloth. (It's one of those "herb-filled" packs that they sell at the kiosks at the mall.)

I certainly wouldn't be on the computer! You need to shut this off and lay down. The strain on your eyes will only make this worse. Turn OFF the music and the lights.

Hope you get feeling better soon! Migraines are the worst! I've had WAAAYYY to many! Next time ask for Imitrex instead of Maxalt. Both are good, but maybe the Imitrex will work better for you. Also, some docs prescribe topomax (Or other drugs) on a daily basis to keep from ever getting headaches. I tried it, but my hair started falling out. It did keep the headaches away though!

You might also, just call the office that you went to and tell them that it's back and see if they can give you a sample of Maxalt or Imitrex, or whatever. Sometimes it just takes more than one dose.

If it doesn't go away, you WILL have to go back to the Dr. It could be a sign of something else.

Good luck.

Most of the answers so far are good...ice and sleep. If you feel around, you can often find a tender spot with a pulse on the skull...that's what you ice . Try keeping a food diary, especially going back 24-36 hours before a migraine..very often the same name will appear like caffeine, chocolate, red wine, aged cheese , etc. Migraine often has definite patterns.... frequently AFTER a stressful period. If you can identify and avoid precipitating activities you may get some relief. It is a problem for life BUT usually becomes much less severe as you approach middle age or can change your lifestyle.

I used get migranes each and all the time. different than drugs (ibuprofen is undesirable, yet advil works o.k.) i'd say to bypass to sleep. Do you drink eating recurring soda? I used to constantly drink it and constantly get migranes. i ended eating it and commenced to drink water rather. Now I purely get migranes whilst i'm under pressure out. Drink water once you get a migrane, and consume something so which you don't get the disillusioned abdomen that is composed of it. solid luck with you migranes. i understand they suck.

Hello,
My migrains...well let's just say I understand what you are going through....
I turn off lights, turn down the TV or music, take lots of drugs, scream some choice words into my pillow (so my children do not have to be subjected to such language)!
With my other health problems a cold towel is not something for me. I can not be touched, it hurts to bad.
Go to your doctor, what will this do for you, you ask? The doctors can get you on a pain management schedule. The doc. can help you figure out what your "triggers" are.
There is no cure for these and women get these more then men.
These are not just a headache, I only wish they were!!
I had to get glasses as well....
I started getting these after I got my head cracked open and stapled shut.
Good luck go to the doctors, they can get you the good drugs...who can afford to be sick these days??

Ok first you soak a towel in ice water. Then go into a dark room with no noises or anyhting and put the towel on your head. Try to go to sleep when you wake up if it isn't gone it will be much better. Hope I helped feel better

There is no medicine to treat migrain.
Acupuncture is the reliable treatment. If there is any please approach him.
There are some villagers which treat migraine with herbs.
If you can get drumstick leaves try to draw a drop of juice by simply pressing by thumb and index finger. Drop two drops of juice in opposite side nostril of pain or both. It works.

i can't cure my migranes with medicine. I have to sit in a dark room with my eyes close and try to passout. I'm not sure if you're migrane is as bad like mine, but i'll flashing lights and things appear very close and i get noxious and throw up. Just sitting in a dark room for some time and sleeping helps.

Cool cool clothes applied to my head usually did the trick with medicine. I would lay back and listen to some soft music and try to completely relax. Good luck to ya!
