it doesn't matter! if you are a good person and do good things good things will happen. If more people lived like that ,instead of worrying about Jesus or any other profit of saint, the world would be a better place!

Because Jesus said
"no man cometh to the Father but thru Me."
If you don't accept Jesus, you can be the best person in the world, but you won't make it.
He said, " Those who profess my name I will also profess their name before the Father"
In other words, if you do not tell of Jesus, He won't tell of you when it's time for you to be judged.
You say.......
"A lot of people know not of Jesus and deserve heaven. It is not an exclusive club only to christians. If you think so you are dead wrong. That kind of thinking is what starts fights"
I hope you are right, cause if you aren't, you won't make it.......
But if you read the Bible, it tells a different story than what you are proclaiming.........
good luck with that

"If you think so you are dead wrong. That kind of thinking is what starts fights"
This is the key to your "question". You don't want an answer; you want a fight.
The belief in the divinity of Jesus as fundamental to Christianity. It's part of the Nicene Creed, that tells us what it means to BE a Christian. If you don't believe He was the Son of God, you aren't a Christian. From your stated beliefs, I'd suggest you look into Unitarian Universalism...

It doesn't matter! I was raised to believe in God, and if you believe in what you read in the bible, you will know it is man's handbook on how to live his life. There is some things in the bible that are not accurate, but I believe the 10 commandments are the gospel man should live by. We get operators manuals with all kinds of gadgets in life, and the bible is no more than a owners manual for living. The odds are 50/50 and I know which way I'm going to bet. We should have no other God's before us, and God sacrificed Jesus to prove a point. If we can't believe in God, then we don't deserve to go to heaven. The world spends too much time fighting over who is right or wrong. We were given a conscience to guide us. Need I say more?
Good Luck brother!!!

"A lot of people know not of Jesus and deserve heaven."
Who can make such a bold statement... only God, and God said that He sent His Son as a sacrificial atonement for all mankind and that "Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Therefore, I cannot say who does or does not "deserve" heaven or hell.
"Believing in Jesus is not a gateway only to heaven. A lot of people know not of Jesus and deserve heaven. It is not an exclusive club only to christians. If you think so you are dead wrong. That kind of thinking is what starts fights."
Once again... "If you think so you are dead wrong." is quite the statement considering the fact that you are becoming "the judge" of who can or cannot enter into heaven. I think that God explained thoroughly who can enter into His rest and who cannot. Sadly, you have chosen to overlook much of what the Bible has to say about what a true Christian exemplifies. In fact, I, myself, do not "call" myself a Christian since that is what others should refer to someone as because they see Christ dwelling in that person. Moreover, a follower of Christ should walk as Christ walked and lead a life of love, peace, gentleness, kindness, meekness, and charity. Unfortunately, many "professed Christians" throughout history did not follow Christ or His commandments. Thus, they denied Him in action and deed.
Therefore, your original question and statement... "Why does it really matter if Jesus was the son of God or not? I believe in God." sadly reflects a heart that is against the will of God since the Bible states that "this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life." (John 6:40) Thus, it does matter who Jesus is since God said that it mattered; so if you truly believe in God, you will follow His only begotten Son and repent and believe because God said that "he that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

the antichrist is going to set up a world religion in which everyone can believe in something different a religion that is tolerant and accepting of multicultural views. This new religious movement will feel good and appeal to many people because it doesnt discriminate in fact its already happening and its called "diversity" its mans attempt at utopian way of life, But it is only sole purpose is to lead people away from the truth that Jesus is the only true light and savior of man kind.

Sorry friend, but u are not in an almighty position to say what is dead wrong. If you can't believe in what Jesus has done for all of us, & further more not appreciate it, your spiritual journey has a long way to go. He was the sacrifice, HE IS THE GATEWAY TO HEAVEN, for if u believe in the Father, you must believe in the lamb. "Noone comes to the Father but by me." Amen:o]

Why not forget the whole god/jesus thing and focus just on what you can do for the beings around you... you won't ever know if heaven is real, or if god exists in this life, but you know you can help benefit others, find happiness within yourself, and perfect yourself through learning... you don't need a god like idol to be there...

The whole son of god story was just to get Joseph off the hook for getting Mary pregnant out of wedlock. Its all a cover-up.
You obviously either don't believe in God or grammar:
"I believe in God." is a statement.
"I believe in god?" is a question.
Jesus was just an ordinary guy though. He would be really upset with the state of Christianity.

Jesus served as the human messenger whom all people could identify with and relate to for God to get his message across, the most important being that even though we are all sinners, God is forgiving and used Jesus to show his powers of forgiveness and retribution so that all would listen and follow....
