If your typical head shaking/tilting isn't working, then go to your local drug store, and get something for "swimmer's ear". It's essentially alcohol drops which will help evaporate the water, but it should be in a healthy regulated dose (as opposed to you pouring in rubbing alcohol or something similar). I would avoid using Q-tips, since technically the water is probably too far in to be able to be used safely.

My aunt always used to tell me to stand on the opposite foot and jump up and down tilting your head so the water will fall down. It worked when I was little, but now that I am older and know more.. This is a better solution-- Use some rubbing alcohol. Pour a little bit into the cap, tilt your head, and pour in a few drops, so that you can feel it fill the ear canal. The alcohol will mix with the water, and it won't create a seal like water will. Give it a couple seconds, then tilt back using a tissue to wipe away any leftover water/alcohol

Sometimes putting your head to one side and giving it a sideways shake works, but other times the water is stuck behind wax.

You can buy drops from the chemist which dissolve the wax, but as a home remedy, you can put drops of warm olive oil into the ear with the head on its side, and stay like that for a while. Try to pull the earlobe down at the same time to help the oil get in. It wont do any harm, but can help dislodge the wax and enable the water to escape.

Hope this helps.

Using a medicine dropper, squeeze 2 or 3 drops of rubbing alcohol into your ear. let it set for 3 seconds, then flip you head to the side where to water and alcohol can run out. If you don't have a medicine dropper, use rubbing alcohol on a Q- tip with the same method; let it set and turn your head over to one side.

The ears will usually drain naturally. If they don't drain and trapped water remains for too long in the ear channel, you could get what is sometimes called: "swimmer's ear", which is a fungal infection. Have a look here for more info.: http://www.entassociates.com/swimmers_ear.htm Don't poke things down the ear, you could cause more damage.

lay down for a bit with the ear that needs draining facing down into your pillow. make sure that you have a cotton ball inside your ear, or just a towel laying beneath it. The ear is a self cleansing part of your body. It should automatically drain by itself this way. Try it.

I had bad ear problems as a child, and had to do this many times. (like every time I swam) The best thing to do is to but a few drops of alchohol in your ears, it will dry the water right up.

Q-tip. Or a small piece of cloth wrapped around a small stick. Don't go too deep, because you don't have to. Tilt your head to that side, to help empty the ear.

I've always just tilted my head sideways and shook my head until it drained out. If it gets particularly irritating or won't come out within a few hours, you can have a medical professional drain it out for you.

using warm water or water at body temperature, put it ur ear and all would come out. my mum does that from ever since i was little to get the water out and it works

ps. to get the water body temp. you can put it in your mouth first for a few seconds and then put it in your ear... dont swish it cause it would collect all your saliva and you dont want that in your ear!! so just put it in your mouth and leave it a sec
