It is not the Bible that changes, it's the people following it. And it's quite true. Which is another reason, I think God put so much in the Bible about judgement. And who did Jesus come against the most in the Bible. Teachers of religious law. I think it's definitely something to keep in mind when harrasing people about what we think is right. I believe in sharing but not forcing. I know how I used to feel before I was a Christian and others would try and force their views on me. Read the Bible for yourself, don't leave it to the interpretation of other people. I think that's very important as well.
Great question by the way.;o)

Human views may change with the times but the unchanging, true and eternal word of God stands forever. That is we are not obey human views but the Word of God which stays the same for all time. The Holy Spirit will show us how any statement of the Bible should be interpreted according to God's intention and this known as revelation by the Holy Spirit.

Today's permissiveness becomes tomorrows standard. We are slowly becoming more and more ungodly and calling it progress.Being ungodly doesn't appear to the eye to be so bad.I am sure there are better husbands and fathers out there who do a better job than a lot of us do today but without God in their life's they are ungodly. Why do you think that the devil is working so hard at taking the ten commandments out of courthouses ? It's because for some people who went once a year to pay their taxes, they were reminded that there is a God.Prayer in schools is the same way.I used to think it was weird for Christians to complain about people writing Xmas instead of Christmas. They said "lets not take Christ out of Christmas" but now it's a holiday and not Christmas at all. They had a vision and knew what they were talking about.Yet many, even other Christians thought they were to extreme.Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:because thou hast rejected knowledge,I also will reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me:seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

People are not following the Bible. They aren't Believing the Bible. They are not obeying the Bible. They are not reading the Bible. So again, to answer your question, people are not following the Bible.

Somehow people said the Bible advocated slavery, later it says slavery is an abomination. Killing an adulteress was right, then it was wrong. Eating shellfish was wrong, now it's fine. The Bible flip-flops so much that it has basically become a book to support the trends.

this question reminded me of the movie se7en actually.
Every generation has it's own moral code, the bible is used where it fits into that code, and ignored where it does not. The simple fact that it has proven to be so fluid, basically expunges it from being a worthwhile source of morals.

the bible is like an old cook book, or an old computer manual, it was relevant when it was new, and for reasons that are not in the realm of reasonable thinking people keep respecting it, and try to manipulate, ignore or hide it's irrelevancies
