My room is fairly large (its about 12' x 24', but is not exactly a rectangle. It has one big rectangle and another tiny one attached to it) and my furniture is mostly modern-style black furniture. I have wood floors. I want my room to have a modern feel. What color do you think I should paint my room? (I am not opposed to more than one color)

I thought about having one wall black but I don't want things to be too overpowering.

I used to have an attic as a bedroom, and i also had black modern furniture, what i did, although it says you dont want two colors, was paint the ceiling white and paint the walls a very light gray. I know it sounds weird, but try to go very light, not so light where it looks white or almost lavender, just a very light gray. It worked for me! and just so the wood wont stand out so much, maybe you can get a plain dark gray or black area rug

I painted my room 3 years ago so, that walls with apricos-yellow, and the roof I painted with clay red. The curtains of dark blue finished it, and I can tell you, the outcome is stunning :)
then I putted some gold-painted lists also to decorate some corner there

Try it!

I prefer white, winter white or ecru, fawn depending on what your color scheme is. You can always change it's look with furniture or different furniture covers, with fancy or patterned draperies and with pictures and mirrors. I always liked the colors black, grey, wine and either wood or chrome with a tad of japanese in either pictures or enamel boxes or something with drawers with flowers painted on it..

Maybe a black behind where your bed goes and the other walls in a really pale green, with squares of black scattered randomly on the green walls.

You can paint an accent wall Red then decorate the walls with red and black art work.

Seafoam green (a very light green)....and paint accents of white (like doorways/windows). It's modern, but also will never go out of style.
