He needs his anal glands emptied and they are giving him discomfort. Your vet can show you how to do this (if you have a strong stomach). If you don't have them emptied he could get a nasty infection or an abscess.

Well my dog did this when he was a puppy and when I took him to the vets I was told that he had worms but the vet said it is also a sign of the anal glands being blocked too, so my advice is to get your dog down to the vets and get him checked out. He is not being dirty, it is annoying him and is itchy, that is why he is " scratching " it by wiping it on your floor. Good luck !.

Your dog is emptying his anal glands - charming I know!
I believe they contain an oily substance and if they get blocked they cause discomfort which is allieviated by either scooting along the carpet or spinning on his bum!

It could be glands, or he may not have finished doing his Number Two. Dogs can't use toilet paper on themselves, unfortunately. If you walk him, give him a few extra chances to hit patches of grass so he can wipe his bum on those instead of your carpet.

My dog used to do that too. He had a check-up at the vets and it turned out he needed to have some glands(that are in his butt) cleared out. It was not very pleasent but he's left his rear end alone since.

That was hilarious about sacking your staff and getting some more in. I can just imagine a lot of people spinning round on their bums!. But to be serious I once had a dog that did this and we just put it down to an itchy bum. Mine used to pull himself along with his front legs, it was dead comical to watch.

When your pet scoots on his or her rear end, it is probably a result of an anal gland problem. You will need to see the vet to have them expressed. My vet charges $7 for this service.

Your dog has a problem with his anal glands. See your vet and add more fiber to the dog's diet to bulk up the stool.

This is usually a sign of worms. You said you don't think he has worms, so most likely he is scratching himself in this way just because it "hits the spot".
