In the Library of Congress subject classification system, the bible is found under "BS".

Not surprising, really....

I see some pathetic godbot gave a thumbs down to my answer, never mind that it's true. As per usual, facts are of less importance to godbots than it is to whine and deny.

Again, it's not surprising....

Libraries have more than fiction and non-fiction sections. I would think that the bible is kept in the "Religion" section.

Does it matter? The mythology section under "non-fiction", doesn't mean anything other than it's not a work of fiction.

Note: by "mythology" I don't just mean reference books and studies, the egyptian Book of the Dead can be found in mythology aswell.

They put it into the religious section.
Many religions have books and manuscripts and writings for their religion/belief system, so they have to have a religion section. It has nothing to do with myth or non-fiction.

The bible goes in the "Religion" section (the 200s in the Dewey system), along with other books pertaining to the subject, such as books on Buddhism, Wicca, Islam, etc.

for people who stated 'neither', it is going to be observed that the Dewey Decimal gadget is barely for non-fiction, so if it is put in the two hundred's under faith interior the Dewey Decimal gadget, then it is in non-fiction. alongside with the Koran, the Rig-Veda, the e book of Mormon, etc., all in 'non-fiction'. probable sufficient to make your head spin.

1st preference is Religion and Mysticism, 2nd preference is Reference if the library is too small to have a religion selection.
