Both man, that's like choosing which of your kids is your favorite. Waffles have those compartments that can hold toppings in place, and pancakes can absorb toppings better than a sponge. Syrup is always a necessity, it needs to be a dark amber Vermont Maple syrup without question.

Waffles with syrup would be my choice. The little wells created by the waffle iron are so handy for keeping the syrup from sliding off the top. I also like the crispy surface of a properly done waffle.

How could anyone choose mushy old pancakes over crisp waffles? Plus Waffles have there own little dents to hold extra brown sugar and syrup.

I really don't do either. But my two kids love pancakes by far, with butter, sour cream and syrup. I know it sounds gross but it's actually pretty good. Don't knock it til ya try it. Neat question.
