Because satan teaches and entices a man/woman not to pray. Praying brings one nearer to God and to the truth, and most do not want this because they are "enjoying" their sinful lives.

the negative answers that I have read on this question is because these people haven't accepted Christ as their Savior, they have no reverence for God. So they don't realize the power of prayer. But one day they will realize what the bible says that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. Hopefully and prayerfully they will be able to experience God on this side of their life and not after the expiration of their life.

They are not afraid of prayer, they either do not know how to pray or they dont' believe in it's power. They could be too proud to turn to Jesus for help, believing the lies that satan tells them that they can succeed in life on their own. But satan leaves out the fact that they are surely destined to fail.
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I wish I knew the answer to your question. The Bible says the following about prayer that stands out to me above all other references....."The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." I know God hears and answers all prayer, not just that of a righteous person, for if He didn't, sinners AFTER the Crucifixion would have no hope of eternal life, but it's good to know that a sincere, honest prayer has POWER behind it when energized by faith.

Cuz you imagine things like "has the power to cast out demons", "has the power to heal the sick", "can lead to eternal Life" and you think when you think about demons and "magic" and un-straightly-getable things, you'd be afraid, wouldn't you?

I don't throw a fit about prayer. It just doesn't work. It is a waste of time more than anything else.
One man with a hammer can do more good than a million people praying.

i think it's because people don't understand it and they're afraid of being wrong. i mean, it's difficult 2 pray when u don't know how to.
i know, it should be easy. it's suppose 2 b like a conversation, but u've got 2 admit, it's difficult talking 2 som1 as good and great and perfect as God somtimes.
i dont know.... maybe im wrong

Wishful thinking, how cute.
Prayer is pointless.
It doesn't "cast out demons".
It certainly doesn't heal the sick.
And it certainly doesn't say anything about eternal life.
It's just you talking to your imaginary friend, who allegedly already knows what you're thinking in the first place.

Nobody is afraid to pray or of prayer. Everybody are afraid of God.Its not fear its respect we have upon HIM.We are afraid of the negative complications our prayer contains and we fear its reaction on us and on our family.

Yeah. I know there are a few poor children in Darfur praying right now. Lets see if God answers them.
Lets see if God replies back to all of the children that died there already.
