Thousands of people here in Istanbul think that he shouldn't have come here - the question is not merely his recent comments on Muhammad but also past comments (when he was still a cardinal) about Turkey's place in Europe. He's not a popular figure here.

However, as far as I'm concerned, whatever. His work here has more to do with the Orthodox Church than is does with either Islam or Catholicism. As the Republic of Turkey is not officially a Muslim country, he's as welcome here as anyone else.

But it doesn't change my life in any way knowing he's here.

Why shouldn't the Pope visit any country in the world, its not as if he is a political figure, If the Allotoha of Iran wants to visit the UK, then that is just the same, lets get the Dehli Lama to visit his home in Tibet, but I guess China is not going to let that happen are they.

Xenophobia stems from ignorance, so he is perhaps healing a few wounds by doing so.

Turkey is lovely this time of year. Let him go an catch some rays!

He shouldn't be afraid to visit mixed religious countries, he'd never leave the Vatican!

Well, the pope's journey to turkey today is for a purpose, so i don't really see why he should abort his journey because of few aggrieved people.

Yes. If he stayed away just because he was scared of what others might think or do, he'd never leave the Vatican. He's a brave man to go where others might hate him.

What would be your plan? That he should stay away from Muslims for the rest of his life instead?

Of course he should go. Why shouldn't he? He should learn to think before he speaks though. Reading what your handlers write isn't always good. Shrubby has proven that.
