I can only answer as a Christian.
If one's theological enquiries don't result in challenges to the faith -- then they're not serious enquiries. Christians have a positive obligation to seek to undermine every aspect of what they think they understand about their faith. The alternative is mindless conformity and the death of the ability to reason. This principle of relentless self-criticism is an application to the intellectual sphere of the crucifixion, in which Christ undermined all the power structures of the world in a single act of love. Our convictions are similarly power structures that we maintain in an effort to hold ourselves together, to force things to make sense, to maintain some kind of control. We must instead enter with Christ into the darkness of ignorance, confusion, weakness and death.
This is not easy. It is not a one time event. It is a life-long process of ever-deeper questioning, every deeper challenging. But it's a path we must walk if we are to follow in the footsteps of the master.

I hear more of the storyline that a skeptic found upon examination that the claims of the Bible are in fact true. The one such story that became a series of books are from the life and work of Lee Strobel. "The Case for Christ" and "The Case for Faith" are just two titles in a series. He was a skeptical, atheistic journalist who sought to discredit the Christian faith through academic examination. He became a Christian as a result of his study.
Let's also remember that once one becomes a Christian, that faith, that status is never lost.
Having one's faith challenged often leads to a deepening of that faith. God's Word has stood the tests of time and human challenge.

When you have the true religion it is because you have proven to yourself over and over again that what you have is a faith based on Gods word and has always given you a satisfactory answer to each question you have asked.

I would pray about the matter and ask the Holy Spirit to clarify. This is one of the purpose for which God allows the Holy Spirit to live in us and to teach us all things.

I challenged it, considered as many angles as I could through my fallible and human mind, and still came to the conclusion that what I believed to be true, was indeed true.
