He is comin to Turkey to visit the orthodox church and to mend some ties with them. He has no shame, how come a person say such things for a person who has been loved from billions of people and then goes to their country like pretending he is sooo innocent...

Well it would seem that he wants to mend some fences, and of course why shouldn't he visit Turkey,it's not a theocracy so maybe there are some Catholics there that might want one chance to have the pope visit them. And of course everything he said about Mohammed and Islam the Islamic world is going out of its way to prove true,as for me I could care less about the Pope and his wanderings. Part of me wishes some nut job Muslim would off him so they could stir up enough prejudice and hatred between these groups to finally cause them to just get it on until their truly done fighting forever,or until they're all gone so the rest of the world didn't have to deal with this crap anymore.

The Pope's original plan was to visit the Orthodox patriarch in Constantinople to try mend ties between the catholics and the orthodox. Turkey refused to allow that so they turned the visit into a state visit. The funny thing is that in response to the Pope's speech about islam and violence they threatened to kill him. That will show him how wrong he was :))

I think it's funny that he is still arriving there, since it was appointed that he go there LONG before his speech condemning Islam as originating from Evil. I understand the people's anger over there, as I would not want someone to curse out my religion who is a leader of another religion and then come to my country claiming to promote peace. His arrangements in Turkey were made long before his comments. Being a former Roman Catholic and having my entire birth family being catholic and my entire married family being Muslim- I was doubly offended.

It is a mission to the Christians who live in Turkey. What he said about Islam was true. The reaction it received proves it. The same things he said can be said about Christians, too. The best we can hope for now is to agree to disagree, but also agree to resist the temptation to resort to violence. Violence can only serve to make matters worse. Violence and hate are tools of evil. A religion that embraces evil as a means to an end is clearly a false religion.

I think he's trying to prove that he wants to extend a hand of friendship to the Muslim community.
