Fleas don't live on humans like they do dogs because most of us bathe daily. They will live in the house but need blood to survive.
A topical flea treatment is best for your dog. Frontline and revolution are best. The flea bites and it dies. Wash the bedding frequently and vacuum daily and you will get the flea situation under control

First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas.
First, treat the dog with Capstar. This is a pill that will kill all of the fleas that get on the dog for the first 24 hours. Second, use either frontline or advantage. I usually tell people to switch back and forth between the two because there are two different types of fleas that are common on dogs and frontline works better on the one type and advantage works better on the other.
Once the dog has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many on line sites sell it.) Outside I would use Demon with Gentrol or Nylar. Treating your house and yard is just as important as treating the dog!
It is also very important to stay away from the grocery store or box store products like Zodiac or Hartz. Many of these products can cause severe allergic reactions in animals.

It is best to treat mommy dog. Give her a dose of Frontline, and the cat too! This will keep more fleas from getting on the puppies. And the best way to get the fleas off the puppies at this age, is a flea comb and soapy water. You will need to do one puppy at a time, and pick off all the fleas with the flea comb and then put the fleas in the soapy water. It may be easier to just pick off each flea and drop them into the soapy water. It is time consuming though, but will give your puppies some relief. It is possible for puppies to get flea anemia (where the fleas take away so much blood that the puppies can't survive!)

Revolution or Frontline. These should be purchased from a vet clinic. Your puppy also needs vaccinations and to be dewormed so please let them help you with this. Fleas live on the dog (about 10%) annd in the evironment (90%) in varying stages of developement. You must erradicate them from the there as well or you will think the prduct is not working. 1. Revolution or Frontline montlhly, do not stop at one dose. 2. Knockout fogger 3. Knock out area treatement. These house treatments need to to done 2-3 times at 1 week intervals. Good luck. Remember it's better to avoid the whole problem by regularly applying monthly topicals and don't be fooled into buy one from over the counter. You are wasting your money.

revolution is great because it protects against ear mites, parasite, and heartworms as well. It's available by prescription only though so you'll have to go to the vet. We used revolution on our 6 week old kitten and she was flea free within 48 hrs.
Fleas cannot live on humans but they will bite you if the infestation is bad enough. To treat the house vacuum everything and wash everything fabric (including curtains) that's out in the house. You can get carpet sprays that will kill the fleas and their larvae and eggs. Just be sure you can keep yourself and your pets out of the area until it dries and airs out. Make sure you're treating your pet and your house at the same time or your puppy will just get reinfested. And be sure to keep treating your puppy for several months because fleas lay dormant!
Good luck and congrats on the puppy. :)

The best product I have found is Frontline. I use it on both my cat and dog (both indoor) and they are flea free for a month. The best product to use to rid fleas in your house is Knockout. It's sold at most vet's offices. I have been using it for almost 3 years and after spraying Knockout, I won't see any fleas jumping on the rugs, carpet, etc for 3 months. And no, fleas don't live on humans, just on your animals.

Hi there are many products that you can buy from pet shops for fleas and worms. To be honest i would go to vet as the products you buy will be more expensive but they are all licensed and therefore will do what they say on the can. Frontline flea spray is excellent and not very toxic also last for ages but remember to hoover and spray house as well.

there is a pill that you can get from your vet. called capstar. it kills the adults fleas immediately (within 30 minutes have been my results) and then you need to remove the pup from the premises so that you can get and use any of the (vet. recommended) chemicals fo kill all life stages of the fleas . the dog will continue to be reinfested until his surroundings are rid of the tiny monsters. you have to break the life/breeding cycle of the fleas. otherwise, you wont ever get rid of them. fleas cause skin problems on dogs as well, so if you have rid the surroundings and the dog of fleas, but he still continues to scratch, he may have developed a skin allergy. that could last his whole life. give him baths in gentle shampoo. dont let him get into the habit of always scratching. if it goes that far, it becomes habit only and there wont be alot that you can do. it is alot easier to stop the whole process at this point than to let it continue. it might seem like alot to do initially to get rid of the fleas, but believe me, it is better than a lifetime of a dog that has skin allergys. that is a whole new set of problems that are alot harder to deal with. good luck

use frontline on your puppy, and if you go on the internet you can find a frontline spray to spray your house with, because fleas lay their eggs on your carpet and furniture.. another thing you can do is use a citrus shampoo on your puppy, fleas don't like the citrus. another thing i have done is i have bought a flea collar from the store and instead of putting it on my dog, i have put it in the vacumn, that way any fleas that i have vacumned up will be killed. doing this stuff, helped me get rid of the fleas in my house. i hope it will help you too.
