Is there a likelihood of a NEW COMPETITOR entering Sony’s market?
Is it likely a SUBSTITUTE PRODUCT may take sales away from Sony? e.g. DVDs replaced videos

Do your own research - try Blu-ray against HD-DVD, or X-Box v Playstation, etc.

There aren't many VCRs produced anymore but it didn't put anyone out of bussiness. They just started making DVD players instead. There's always new competitors in the personal electronics field.
Why are you so concerned about the future of Sony? Are you thinking of investing in some stock? I think they'll be a good investment.
Sony would be among the first to produce any new technology.
I don't think there's any "substitute product" that they don't sell.
