Because you are familiar with the word, catatonic, I must assume that you are already receiving mental health therapy from a professional. If not, please go to your local mental health office. I am a former case manager for the seriously mentally ill and I have seen shock therapy work but please consider all your options. If your therapist seems unwilling to try new treatments, get a second opinion. There can be serious side effects from shock therapy and you should get all the information before making a decision. Besides medication and professional therapies, do not underestimate the power of yourself!!! Good nutrition, exercise, and an "I can" attitude can do wonders even for serious debilitating depression. Fill your world with positive people, positive pictures, positive music, etc. Find a friend who will be willing to get you up in the morning and go for a walk with you. As much as you want to hide, don't. If you cannot be around people, go outside and get some fresh air in your lungs. Make a list of all things that are good in your life. Do not give up on yourself- You are the only you that you have.

the first thing u should do is to make sure you do not have physical problem, and have yourself checked out by a medical doctor. also have u tried different medications i hope u have been diagnosed for depression by a psychiatrist, not a family doctor. a psychologist may be help full also. the shock therapy can work quite well for some people, but that is up to your psychiatrist. i have seen people come out of depression after a few sessions of shock therapy. it does however have a few side effets goes i hope this is helpfull and good luck to you shock therapy should be a last resort

Try to get in to see a psychologist. There are very effective forms of therapy that work better than medication and help you learn to cope with things in your life. Medication does nothing more than cover stuff up - and can have side effects of making you feel 'catatonic'. Medication does not provide a listening ear or solutions.

Hello
A very close person to me was diagnosed with depression and has been living with it for the past 10 years.
He says nothing has helped him, but for something he started doing about a year ago.
He started to create his own business, as a result of wanting to achieve a higher dream of becoming free from working for anybody.
In short: his own dream of being what he wants to be has gotten him out of his depression.
Don´t know if could be applicable to you, but it might help. It has definitely helped him.
Love

first of all marijuana will make it worse for the guy who thought that was the answer. marijuana is a depressant. as is alcohol so stay away from both. you may want to look into natural therapies and remedies. along with the anti depressants. it could also be something other than actual depression. it could also be hormonal talk to your doctors if they don't want to listen or take you seriously switch doctors until one will. best of luck to you.

if you are serious about this then you should try meditation. this can help you as i have done this myself and it works. antidepressants wont help you, they just make you worse or cover the problem. if you are willing look inside yourself and you and you alone will be able to cure your depression.
