Is the oral health of a person who brushes after every meal better than a person who only brushes twice a day? This case assumes everything else being equal. They both brush properly and avoid too many sweets between meals etc.

Most people don't brush 3 times a day. Some will chew that gum that is for freshing and brightening teeth. I recall in school we were told that if you just rinsed your mouth after a meal, it will get rid of most of the food particles which causes most tooth decay. I don't think 2 compared to 3 times would make that much of a difference, seems like its all about plaque and genetics nowadays..

Yes, it makes a difference. But don't forget to floss, also.
Brushing your teeth removes the food that builds up on the "table tops" of your teeth. The food that gets in the grooves that you chew with. If you brush after you eat, it doesn't have time to set there and cause cavities. The longer it is there, the more damage is done. Same thing with flossing. It removes the food that is stuck between your teeth. And we all know that it doesn't take long at all for food to "expire" and become nasty. Just think of that being in your mouth.

yes, certainly! by brushing after every meal you eliminate the bacterias that do their "dirty work" in our mouths! so of course that an"every meal" man has a big advantage against the "twice a day" man.
