It depends on the type of snow and the weather conditions. If it is a "dry snow" with mid range moisture, then 8 inches should be enough providing the temperatures stay steady. If it is a fresh snow with high moisture in the air, then you don't stand much of a chance of one or two pass overs.
The snow needs to be deep enough to create a padding and to stabilise any paths that will be mowed through the run by the skis.

Well, if I were a combat air pilot...and I had the "chance", I would certainly tell the ground crew to unload the "7-inch ZUNI air-to-ground rocket" and replace it with an "8-incher"...it would definately pack a harder punch or travel "longer distance" to the "target" to "deliver its warhead" on my next "bombing run".....get it?

The point is the bigger, the better...if you don't know how to make the best possible ( and it is very possible) use of what you already have.

well if you slide down on it slow enough and take your time to get the full effect. It would be fun to slide down it back word and standing up and on your stomach. my personal favorite is riding down it in a chair that really helps me enjoy the full effect of 8 inches of snow
