These came along with Windows Media Player 11: "XP KB926239, XP MSCompPackV1, XP Wudf01000". Now my Limewire won't run. Uninstalling, then reinstalling Limewire won't work, nor does doing the same with the hotfixes. System Restore won't work. I've isolated it enough to know that its NOT AntiVirus, AntiSpyware or Security related. Nor is it to do with advertising components from another program.

I've exhausted all other efforfts, but still cannot get my Limewire back.

It'll take a real expert or someone really savvy to answer this one, so, if you're out there, please help???

PS. NO BLATENTLY OBVIOUS OR SILLY ANSWERS PLEASE.

Eternally Grateful.

If system restore won't work, then the hotfixes couldn't have been the cause of the problem (unless you aren't restoring to before you installed the hotfixes)

Try uninstalling again, then before you reinstall, kill as many processes running in the background as possible . (make sure they are ones you are familiar with and ones you know won't interfere with windows operation if shut down). Then after you've done that, try to reinstall limewire. Sometimes programs screw up when you install them while another application or program is running which could be using shared files.

Go into Control Panel, then Windows Security Centre, Windows Firewall, then Exceptions. Make sure Limewire is there and ticked. When you say you uninstall Limewire, make sure you click on Program Files and delete it from there. It always leaves a folder there even after uninstall. Then try downloading it again and follow the above. Hope this helps.
