I have to agree with all the other answers. 15 is extremely old for a malamute and at that age arthritis is usually a very big problem for the dog. I used bovine cartilage for mine and yes within a few days you could see the difference in her, but it doesn't fix the problem. Cut back on the walking, if you have access to an area that the dog can just walk around on it's own (fenced area or something) that may be all the exercise at his age he may need for the day, and it can be done at his own pace.
Good Luck!

HI, There are many factors that could result in the reason this dog does this. One you need to shorten your walk time all together, this could be age related. I would contact your vet and discuss with your vet options for the care of your friend. He may have suggestions that non of us can think of.
Blessings,

Could be old age and illnesses that come with it. Consult a vet! Possibilities that I can think of: weakness due to exhaustion, rheumatism, slipped disk...
does he seem to be in pain? Ease up on the walking and see a vet.

Could be a hip problem? Could be artritus? no jumping on sofa or bed. Tell the owners to take the dog to the vet for checkup and explain problem.

15 yrs is very old for a Malamute. I wouldn't take him on long walks, maybe a block or two. It may be time to stop and let him rest.

it sounds like your baby is getting a bit old and unfortunately for the larger dogs they can sometimes get hip displacia or arthritis.i found that shark cartlage was very good for this complaint and although this may seem expensive, if you love your pet as i do mine, you will see the changes very quickly.

large dogs tend to develop rear hip and back problems with old age. a visit to the vet should confirm it,
