I, for one, have not seen too many acts of evil comitted by atheists. I have, however, seen much evil and atrocities comitted my people who claimed to be very religious and who beleived in a God.

The "hell" is a christian concept. I was a christian for many years. In my desire to become more enlightened I find that I'm more spiritual than religious. I've looked into some pagan religions. The idea is about finding peace and a spiritual path. (I would like that for all of us)

Not forever, and not even condemned, but to be away from God is a kind of hellish condition. It is natural for the spirit soul to be with God, the spirit soul is the self, that is, the life in the body and God is also that life force.

The fact that many people claim to be religious doesn't mean they are. Religion is actually about having a real personal relationship with God. One who does 'evil' acts is displeasing to God, separated from God and no better than, or indeed worse than the average atheist.

But there are many atheists who have done evil things. Africa is full of atheists (not entirely, but a lot) and many people there (not all) do incredibly heinous things. Its just an example. but there are many. A truly religious person is kind and wise and compassionate. By nature he doesnt do evil things.

(you should consider what it means to be atheist and at the same time judge what is evil and what is good. one must have some understanding of a grrand lawmaker to know that there is evil at all).

getting back to 'hell forever' - noone goes to hell forever. God loves us undonctionally and he wants us to realise we are not happy away from him. he'll always let us come back, when we are ready- htis life or the next. It is ignornace that has seeped into Christianity since about 500 AD to think that we don't live again and again and again util we, the spirit soul, is ready to go back home to God. God never forces anyone to believe in Him let alone love him, so none of his servamts should do so, or would do so either.

Try to recognsie the difference between true religion and psuedo religion. Few people do. Its not about groups and labels and blind faith.

Being an atheist is a sin, because the evidence for God is clearly manifest in nature, as well as the church, and in the heart of every person.

Whether it's a serious enough sin to make you wind up in hell is a matter that only God can decide.

I suggest you take a look at atheistic communism in the former Soviet Union and China, which accounted for millions of deaths during the 20th century, many of them simply for being in the wrong political party.

Nobody has a lock on peace or holiness, but at least God has promised to forgive those who offend, yet later manage to apologize and repent, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Atheists will never be able to qualify for mercy under those terms.

im so tired of people referencing the bible. and one that was edited by a horny king who needed a divorce none the less. an editor at a community college paper couldnt get away with a hack job like that and weve got people dying for a screwed piece of fiction based on heresy about a guy that might have lived hundreds and hundreds of years ago written well after he died, by people who never saw him. you people scare me. not "heavens and hells," the people who go around telling others they are going to imaginary places in the sky. remember that game we all played as kids, "dont step on the ground or you will be in hot lava!" sometimes i swear, this hell place is the invention of adults who still just want to play the dont-step-in-the-lava game.

If there is no God, there is no hell, so you have nothing to worry about, do you? Except for the yammering of people trying to condemn you to a hell that doesn't exist.

If you really are concerned about God, and not the people, a different approach might be to ignore the god of the nasties and look for one who cares about you..

well, if you are an atheist and do not believe in god, then i don't think you should believe in heaven and hell either. Anyway its not wrong being an atheist. everyone has a right to choose what they want to believe in.

Hell was created by organized religion to make its followers give more money to the churches.

What in the world could anyone do in the brief time they are on earth that would result in eternal damnation?

I think from my observation that atheist as well as other beliefs thrive on criticizing each other. You are proving my point by sinking to the level that you are by asking this stupid question.
