Aveda Damage Remedy is great on coloured hair, use both the shampoo and conditioner in this for the best results though you don't have to. Also Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is fantastic. Put it on once a week, leave it to soak for a while then wash as usual, I still use a conditioner afterwards, the Aveda one, as my hair can get very dry, but it leaves my hair so nice and in such good condition. I have been colouring my hair every 6 weeks for years and I have a full head done every time and it takes it out of it and my hair is naturally thick and curly so you can imagine how it can get! No more! Give them a try, they are not cheap but you don't need a lot anyway, you will find that as your hair gets in better condition you will start to need less of it every time you wash. The Aveda lasts, a litre of each takes me least 9 months to a year to use up, the Ojon I use that quicker though as it is a treatment and doesn't come in a huge package. You can get Ojon on QVC UK (item no 220 318) they also do a whole hair care range that I haven't used yet, but I have no idea about the US, and Aveda from House of Fraser (UK) or mail order in the Internet. I know you can get Aveda in the US.
What also helps is putting on the treatment then wrapping your hair in cling film and putting on a shower cap over that, not attractive but the heat helps the treatment to penetrate the hair better. Leave it on for a hour or more, I have left mine on all day if needed, then wash out and condition as ususal.

kerestase masquintense is very good, however Tresemme is great too.
another fantastic way to get your hair healthier, (sounds gross i know) is olive oil.
take a couple of spoonfuls of oil and massage into your hair, then wrap in a carrier bag for an hour, then wash it out with shampoo. it really really works (and its cheap)
also - if you use one of those conditioners - try putting it on dry hair (its more absorbant) - then wrap in a warm damp towel and leave it for an hour (do your nails) and wash it out.
redken all soft is really really good too.
make sure you always use a heat protector when you straighten your hair too - it is very very important.
that aussie stuff is ok, but not of the same class as redken and kerestase.

Hot Oil def... Can't remember the make (its stupidly famous, will be in all the supermarkets *kicks self*)
They do a hot oil that reacts with the heat from the shower that I really like and you only need to leave it on for 2mins.
ALSO i would recommend (150%) coconut oil as a serum (superdrug own make/ body shop). My mum's beeing using it for a million years and it REALLY does make a difference. You don't need a lot so it will last FOREVER and it will make your hair soft, shiny and healthier (you don't need a lot, esp. if you have fine hair!). I smooth it all over my hair but if you have fine hair i'd probably only apply it to the ends.

Hot oil massages: Warm 2 tsp. of olive oil and 2 tsp. coconut oil and gently massage every part of the scalp for 10-15 minutes. Rinse a towel in hot water, wipe and wind the hair around the head as it cools. Repeat 2 or 3 times to issue total saturation. After that, shampoo and rinse well. It is good for brittle dry hair.
Hot Caster oil massage: Warm ½ cup of castor oil, massage into scalp and gently comb it. Bind the hair with hot towel on the head, wait for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. As it is home made is so good to use for scanty hair.
Clove oil honey massage. Stir well ½ cup of green olive oil with 1 cup of liquid honey. Shake vigorously. Keep the mixture to settle for a day or two. Massage into the scalp and comb it not touching the scalp. After massaging cover hair with plastic shower cap. Make it air tight to let the heat penetrate, leave like that for 20 to 30 minutes. Then shampoo and rinse well. It is good for dark hair to keep it shining and lustrous.
Natural homemade Protein treatment: Beat 1 egg and add slowly 1 tsp of olive oil and 1 tsp of vinegar. Apply it on hair and keep for 10 to 15 minutes. Apply shampoo and rinse well. This is good for all type of hair.
For oily hair Use any thin type of oil instead of olive oil and add lemon juice instead of vinegar.
If you feel sticky also it is worth to do protien treatement. Use mild shampoo twice and condition it next day
To prepare a quick hair conditioner try this:
1 egg + 1 tsp vinegar + Glycerin
OR
1 egg + Honey + Olive oil
Take care.

in our salon we use a biolage treatment which is fantastic and not too expensive, we have a website ( we do mail order ) www.arcanasalon.com, if you cant afford it, an alternative is to wash your hair and heat a towel up on the radiator, put loreal elvive conditioning mask on (its in a round, red tub) and put the towel over for 15 mins then rinse thouroughly, the heat will open the cuticles, putting the moisture back in, good luck!
