bleaching at most causes sensitivity. The principle of it is to get rid of colorful particles that came there by food and drinks using materials no different than HCl (acids) solvents... (of course their ratios are very low and the dentists get the education needed to use these materials safety. Also effect of bleaching would last up to 6 months to 2 years. (at best) After that the color of your tooth turns to a color that is slightly better than it used to be.

Bleaching is harmful, but I guess you already know that from all the above!
I'd like to agree with "Life Style" that Darlie is indeed a wonderful toothpaste. Try it. It's got mono-flouride which helps whiten the teeth enamel without destroying it.

What kind of bleach is it that you are referring to? I want to know so that I too can use it. I think I will worry about the consequences later on, my teeth are off white and I have tried using smokers toothpaste to no vail. Do tell me what bleach you have in mind, I will give it a try and tell you the results.

Actual bleaching of your teeth wears down the enamel (the enamel of the teeth is what becomes discoloured, so when this is worn down teeth appear whiter.) Some gentle whitening toothpastes make a difference, and are relatively safe to use, but not for more than the suggested length of use. If they are really bad, you can ask your dentist to refer you to a hygeinist, who will do it all for you =]
