We've been together for years, there's no kids or family left and traditional wedding vows just seem so old-fashioned. Does anyone know of a vow that we can speak to each other, to express our love and commitment, but which doesn't sound 'icky' and which recognises how long we've been together?

If you really intend to bypass the traditional vows, then you ought to think of something that resonates with inner thoughts about him and life.I would suggest that you try to do that instead of asking us to do it for you. Nevertheless, I would suggest one that comes to my mind when I conjure up to your state of mind.
Here is one that may serve as a guide.
" I have trudged the path of life and seen many summers without you around. Now that you have entered my life, I promise that I will do all within my command to keep you by my side through thick and thin and will embellish your life with all that I have and can do. I also hope that you will walk along with me from here to the eternity, warming my heart with your love and fidelity."
Best wishes!!

How about this, we get married next month with these vows, we've only been together 2 years though.

(Name) with all my love, I take you to be my wife/husband. I will love you through good and the bad, through joy and the sorrow. I will try to be understanding, and to trust in you completely. Together we will face all of life's experiences and share one another's dreams and goals. I promise I will be your equal partner in a loving, honest relationship, for as long as we both shall live.

How about -
Through the years together, and the years to come, blessings and sorrows have come and gone and still we remain strong.

Or
Our teeth are false, our skin is wrinkly, we're still together and won't be trading in for a younger model for as long as we both shall live.

Heres one for when you exchange rings

This ring I give to you as a token of my love and devotion to you. I pledge to you all that I am and all that I will ever be as your (husband/wife). With this ring, I gladly marry you and join my life to yours.

Yes. You need to say that you will "seal in the eyes of god, what has already been sealed in the eyes of love". God bless you both

Write something from your heart...anything that anyone else tells you to write isn't going to be very personal.

A smile and a kiss would be enough to say it all.
