is being in a 6 year relationship with a guy, engaged to him and bought your own place with him a "big deal" to a new guy if you ended the relationship 8 months ago?
he new my ex but they were not friends and my ex has moved away.
we have been seeing eachother casually, only kissed even tho he wants to take "things" further.
i really like this guy but he hasnt asked me out on a date?
he has asked about my ex tho.

I'd say it's a big deal, purely because YOU'VE been in a serious relationship, and some guys don't want to push someone who come out of a 6 year relationship only 8 months ago.
On the other hand, I'd have at least asked you out for a coffee by now. Why not ask him instead?

Not to me, it wouldn't be. I'd be more worried if you hadn't had any long term relationships.
However, that being said, I can see that this guy may well be "sounding you out" to see if you really are "over" your ex. Last thing he'll want is to start a relationship with someone that will go back to their ex.

never mention a former partner or any kind of man other than a man friend when talking to a prospective date. even mentioning you had dinner can make a man think you slept with him. if i went out with you and mentioned all my former lovers alphabetically(we'd still be on the A's by the time dessert came) you would find it a big turn off. men are the same. don't talk about the ex and avoid his mention at all times.

yha im telling you guys can feel threatened or for some reson hurt if he likes you and knows you have been in a long relationship before he might really like you and be afraid the same thing will happen to him if he lasts that long with you a he fears getting hurt

8 mos for a guy seems like a long time- sounds like he wants to get you in bed- and forget about dating - sounds tacky- is he doing dirty work for your ex or what?? sounds like he is either wanting to know if you are over your ex- or he is acting odd- and wants to have sex- over ex or not-D
