Its part of their culture. Why would one eat a pig, or a bird? its what they are taught to think was part of the "norm"

Well, the history goes back a long long way. There were numerous famines through out chinese history and when your belly is empty, you can't be too picky. Although nowadays, it's strictly for the heck of it.
But really, only a very small percentile eats these sort of things on a regular base. The few proclaimed connoisseurs swear that canines are the tastiest meat in the world. They nicknamed it "fragrant meat". But believe me, it's overrated in my opinion. (Been there done it, no big deal)

Actually, dog meat is quite tasty and is considered to be superior in quality to many other types of animal flesh. I have never personally eaten it, but I know of people who have and they say it is very good. In fact, I have read accounts from the Lewis and Clark Expedition and learned that they ate dog whenever they could get it because they much preferred the meat to that of buffalo, deer, horse, or salmon. They would trade horses to indian tribes in exchange for dogs to eat! I have never eaten a domestic cat, but I have cooked and eaten the loins from a mountain lion that I killed a few years ago and the meat was fantastic! It reminded me a bit of pork, but with a much leaner texture. The flesh of almost any animal can be cooked and eaten just as we eat the flesh of our domesticated cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens. The fact that people adore these animals as pets makes it repulsive to think of eating it, but muscle is muscle no matter what animal it comes from and can be prepared to taste good in most cases. However, I would be grossed out if I had to eat a buzzard!

I'm Part Chinese and I dont eat dog. Stop Stereotyping because it's insulting. There is a group that eats dog because it helps them survive the coldof the winter. Dog meat had warming effects according to them.

What i think is because they started out really poor in the past and people then eat anything they can lay their hands on.
Moreover the chinese believe that you can obtain 'natural' nutrients and minerals from the different part of the animal.
Dog i know they eat it cuz they say it helps to fight the chill during cold months.

Why do Americans eat fried little bird arms? Why do French eat snotty snails? Why do Scots eat lamb's livers stuffed in a sheep's stomach? Why does ANYONE eat broccoli?

Same reason why we eat chicken, turkey, and all these other birds because we are hungry.
Only difference they eat animals on 4 legs.

this only happens in third world countries. the only reason why anyone would do this is because they can't afford meat and stray dogs are easy to find.
