Hi there...Whiskas, IAMs, Purina, Friskies (most commercial grade cat food) all contain byproducts and corn, corn meal as their primary ingredients. Corn products are actually fillers that are used to bind the dry food together as well as help preserve the shelf life of the food.
The better quality foods to maintain optimal health for cats (skinny and overweight) are found in specialty pet stores such as:

Young cats are very active and are generally leaner than older kitties. However, if your kitty is over a year there may be other medical underlying factors which could be contributing to this. Consider ringing a vet if the latter is the case to discuss if an evaluation would be helpful.

You don't say whether it is a skinny breed like Siamese or whether it is too skinny and you want to fatten it up a bit. If you want to fatten it up a bit then try kitten food, it's got more nutrients in it and will help it put on weight. If it's a naturally skinny cat then try a food designed for that breed. Royal Canin do loads of types of cat food for every type so perhaps try one of those. I have no idea why anyone would say Whiskas is bad for cats, it's got to be far superior to those nasty cans of Lidl's brand cat food which are basically just corn, at least Whiskas is meat.

The reason they said whiskas isn't a good product to use is because it's very fattening. If your cat is skinny, you need to help it gain weight steadily.
I recommend Iams or Co-op brand. It has kept my two cats healthy and happy since we've had them. I also recommend that you only use soft cat food as a treat occasionally, not as regular meals. I find it is very fattening for cats and it is a shame to see some cats that eat it regularly get fat and sluggish.
Hope this helps x

Is your cat a male? and has he been fixed? and allowed to roam outdoors? My cats all have meat on their bones and I have used different kinds so they won't get bored with the same old food. They are nine pounds and plus. One of my male cats is thin because he has not yet been neutered. (I plan on having it done after the Holidays) I would suggest giving it some worm medicine from your vet. The one that kills all worms. ($4-6) If it is a male cat and goes outside and hasn't been fixed he is probably on the prowl for a female in heat in your area. Sometimes they are gone for a couple of days, and when they are active like that they stay thin. After I get mine fixed they always put on the weight, even the females. Good luck and let us know what happens.

i've got self belief your discomfort. I easily have a toy poodle who's 2 years previous and a pair of cats who're 8 weeks and 10 mo. previous. My dogs LOVES cat nutrition - moist or dry, and that i've got observed that my 10 mo. previous cat likes to devour the dogs dry nutrition. Unfortunatly, dogs could devour dogs nutrition and cats could devour cat nutrition. The meals are designed speicifically for the nutrients and weight loss application that a cat and dogs desire. Your cat is probable skinny becasue she's no longer getting the mandatory weight loss application from eating the dogs nutrition in the process the day. allowing them to change nutrition can easily finally end up inflicting issues as nicely. basically slightly right here and there of each and every others nutrition won't harm the two, however the dogs could finally end up desiring to get it is anal glands drained (which could consequence from the dogs eating table nutrition as nicely) and that's no longer a pleasent journey! The cat could finally end up malnourished from the lack of ability of nutrients that the cat needs from cat nutrition. What I do is placed the cats nutrition on the counter interior the "spare" bathing room (I stay in an house as nicely). we've 2 loos and one is barely for "travelers" so the cat nutrition is on the counter interior the spare. This enables because of the fact the cats be attentive to the place their nutrition is and the dogs won't be able to get to it. It additionally makes it to the place they do no longer think of they are in a position to get on the counter the place human beings nutrition is made and ate at. yet another suggestion is while feeding them moist nutrition, feed them on opposite facets of the home. Feed the cat interior the mattress room and the dogs interior the residing room, etc. you will possibly be able to additionally close the door and shrink them to popping out of their seperate rooms while they have ate all their moist nutrition (which regularly isn't a difficulty getting my animals to gobble up each and every of the moist nutrition). sturdy luck with them!

who is "they"?????
For skinny cats, firstly worm, using a proper prescription wormer from the vet. Ask the vet to check a urine samle for diabetes or kidney disease, both of which can cause weight loss, then feed a good quality kibble. But only after you have seen the vet.
Never feed iams!
