We cooked mince tonight with a packet mix of shepherds pie. When it cooled and the oil solidified, it was lime green......I tell no lie! The mince was brown and the hardened fat was green! Whats going on?

no need to freak out! the flavours in your packet mix will just include something green. or did you use peas as well? Its pretty gross how you can see the fat the next day and you realise you ate that, but if fats all good with you then chow down, there is nothing wrong with it.

I hope you didn't eat it!

The previous poster who said it might be something in the shepherds pie mix is probably correct...but I have a thing about meat...if it's a weird colour I would throw it out!

Sometimes supermarkets die their meat to make it look fresher, but it's usually a reddish-pink die and that can come out in cooking..but green?? yuck!

It could be caused by a small amount of curry being in the shepherds pie mix. Curry powder can cause very pretty yellow/greens in light coloured substances

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww . . . . I would say that the mince was most definitely off!!! Chuck it out before you get food poisoning.....

Or instead of throwing it out take the mince back to where you purchased it and demand a refund!! I most certanily would be taking it back!

Original green mexican sauce: 3 jalapeño peppers 1/4 onion some cilantro 1/2 of a small tomato put everything in a blender, add salt. (you dont have to heat this sauce just serve right from the blender) Red sauce: 1 cup of tomatillos (they are little green tomatoes) 1 bowl of red dried peppers 1/4 of onion garlic salt first youve got to cook the red dried peppers and the tomatillos in water with salt and garlic until they are soft. Then you put them in the blender with the onion, but not with the garlic and blend them with water until the sauce is liquid. add more salt to your taste. hey i hope you like them, and understand them hehe i dont speak english too well
