My spouse just went to IRAQ. Says they will be in kuwait for a month or so.
Im wondering can anyone tell me what the living arrangements is like in kuati.
In iraq i know they will have the trialers -- and computer access and telephone access..but what about in kuwait for the first month?
Also, does a year deployment start when they get to IRAQ or has it already started while they are in kuwait?

a year starts when they get on the plane, but you know it could be longer or shorter, like everything it is not a given. Kuwait's living conditions are far superior than any in Iraq, so rest assured. Your spouse has a far better chance of communicating with you regularly from Kuwait than Iraq.

First Good luck in all that you do... I wish you the best... However, I know first hand cause my husband is in Iraq at the moment and before they make it to Iraq they have to go to Kuwait...It's like a mid-way point... However, I've learned that Kuwait is a much better place..(due to the circumstances) They are able to do more and live a little better... And they also are able to communicate with you a little more often then they would in Iraq... I talk to my husband almost everyday while he was in Kuwait.. But once he got to Iraq I hardly ever get a chance to talk to him.... However,though it all we rely on the swiftness of the deployment to bring our Soldiers back... Being in the Military teaches you how to with stand any living situation, so I'm sure all is going to be well... Some rough parts yes, cause that's the art of the military... But all will be O.K...
P.S: The year deployment starts whatever day he departed...

Living arraingements in Kuwait are rather spartan for rotating troops. He will live in a bunch of tents in the misddle of the most desolate desert imaginable. There will be a small PX and a few phones (with hours-long lines).

year deployment starts when they head to kuwait. my husband also recently deployed in the past few weeks, he was in kuwait for about 3 weeks. they have internet cafes there, some of the computers even have webcams. there are also phones, and american type places to eat. he will be living out of his ruck and sleepin on a cot.

They will most likely be living in a tent city , limited phones and internet access are available . They start there time once they leave the US.
