Be absolutely clear in the begining that you believe in being friends first, but that being just friends is not an option. Clear communication on the front end solves a lot of problems later.

That`s going to be quite difficult. Usually the relationship takes its course on it`s own, and quite soon. You dont have time to "think" months or so.
Wouldn`t it be weird if some of your old friends said to you one day: Youre hot, and im suddenly interest in you in a romantical way...

thats actually the best way to get out, is to get in.
Be her best friend, then you'll have a better shot at her, annd. youll know better if shes right for you.
