if you want to lose weight, you need to exercise at least an hour and at least more than three times per week, provided you have a diet plan as well.
if you just want to keep yourself fit then half an hour twice a week will be enough

How long you exercise is not important but how regular you do it, is more important. If you start it today, make sure that you don't find any excuse till the last day of your life. Exercise allows the body to sweat a lot. It helps to reverse the process of pain in your body. Just remember, when you take any pain-killer, the first reaction of the body is that the body sweats a lot. It means that if you suppress the sweating, it will generate pain in your body and if you perform regular exercise, the process settling pain will not even initiate in your body. Sweat is also a waste product of the body. As you give some time for toilet, urine etc, you must also give some time for sweating. It is the simple way to eliminate pain generating elements from the body.

Depends on the type of exercise, but 20-30 minutes' walking per day is enough to maintain fitness. If you want something more vigorous, try swimming or a workout at the gym. A 45-minute session twice a week is enough for most people. Extras like getting off the bus 1 stop before normal & walking the last bit, or taking the stairs instead of the lift - at least for 1 or 2 flights - also help.

It depends on your health, if you are very healthy, you can do as many hours you want to but if your health is constraining you to do less exercise, then you can have it for 20 or 30 minutes...but not more than one hour. Better ask your doctor for a good and
appropriate advice...
