Theology is a study of [any] religion, faith and practices. It is considered a science with various branches of studies: dogmatic, practical, natural, systematic, liberation theologies.

Bible Study is strictly confined to studying the scriptural texts found in the Holy Bible only.

First of all, theology can be of any religion, whereas Bible study pertains only to Christianity.
Theology is study of religion in very broad sense, while Bible study is very special stream (just a part) of theology.

I think theology is the study of all aspects of religion and the history of religion. By all aspects I mean social, political etc.
Bible study is just interpretation of the bible, giving it the slant your particular sect puts on it. Hope this helps.

Theology: etymology: study of God....it actually focuses on God's characteristics but books for theology are written by men.

Bible study well is getting to´know God directly from his authorized book.

theology is closer to an "unbiased" study of religion: texts, culture...
not imposing their beliefs on what they are studying

bible study is someone who is a christian applying the bible to their life, studying the messages within.

You can get certified document (i.e certificate, diploma, degree) from a theology school/ college.
you will just taught in understanding of what Bible say in your/ a church.
