The religion? The catho-lice are everywhere. But there is one good thing about a single religion dominating a country: they tend not to be as fearful about competing religions or atheism when their cult is so dominant. The only annoying part is when you're in a store and a catho-lice "prayer" starts blasting out at 120 decibels; they stop shopping and stand there with heads down and will give you dirty looks if you keep shopping. The cult is endemic (or I should say, epidemic) in their society.

The people? They're pretty much the same as people in every country I've been to, just people. One thing I heard that's fairly accurate is some people call them the "Latinos of Asia"; given how so many want to get out and go to the US, it fits.

The places? The country looks like time stopped in 1986: construction and new buildings were never finished as soon as the Marcos dictatorship ended and the money stopped coming in. Anything that looks new in the country was built by foreign investors after 1995.

My biggest annoyance with them and why I won't go back for another holiday is that they all expect praying enough will solve their problems; I'm _not_ insinuating that they're lazy, but Filipinos don't seem to think that working for a solution will do more than praying for a solution. ("Hands that help are better than lips that pray," as the saying goes.)

Well where to begin. I own several properties over there and have all my money in the bank there.

Get away from Manila and see the real Philippines. The people are very friendly, will go out of their way to help you. The women are very beautiful and still hold the traditional values, marriage first, virgin until married. Most of them are Catholic. But if you go to Palawan or Southern Mindanao there is a heavy Muslim population and terrorist groups.

For sites you have Corrigador, Ft. Santiago, Manila Bay, Chocolate Hills, nature preserves ( land and ocean). A lot of Aussies go there to surf. If have any more questions, send an email, happy to answer.

I'm a Filipina and I live in the Philippines. There's a lot of hospitality here and the places where you can enjoy yourself are just great. You can travel by land or water or air when you travel. There are a lot of sites that show the country's history. The religion here is mostly Catholic so most of the people are very conservative. A lot consider the English language as our 2nd language so most know how to speak and understand it.
