Sleep is created by the release of melatonin, a hormone that your body naturally produced and secreted through the body. At a young age, you should get about 8 hours sleep, but as you age, you begin to produce less melatonin and don't normally get as many hours sleep as when they were younger. If you think about it - Grandma and Grandpa always get up way earlier than you do. There is a supplement of melatonin that helps someone sleep if they take it as a regular supplement - but it doesn't help everyone.
