The visit is intended exactly as such and not of permanent nature. It is to determine if a relationship is worth further pursuit. Then if worth pursuit what is the best way to go about a marriage visa?

It really depends on what country you are going to, sad but true, say if it is Canada you can go to canada.gc.ca and find all the info that you need. Honesty is the best policy. I came to Canada from the USA, and I had no troubles, I'm still here and happily married and have filed for papers for landed immig status , You want to make sure that when you do proceed with anything that you answer all info properly and correct, if not that can cause you many problems, and just for your info it can be time consuming and you just need to remain positive. Just get all the information you can, off the net, public library can be helpful, your own offices for passports and visa's and such, You need to find out if there are any stipulations for the country you are going to, such as how much money you need to have per day and so on. I hope this makes since, Good luck to you ...

Just say that you are a tourist come to see what the country and people are like. There is no compelling reason for you to tell anyone that you want to meet a potential mate to "determine if a relationship is worth further pursuit" - that's personal. After all, you do not have any intentions of over-staying your visa.

i cant mail you, maybe you might want more information on ANY visa's, I'm married to a Serbian, and we have just been through lots of visa's, and are still getting them for another year..
if your not going to get married in the next 6 months, just put Xmas visit on the reason for visit, and put that you are long term friends.. you wont HAVE to make a visit at Xmas, and you wont HAVE to only stay 10 days, the visa will still be for 6 months and you can come and go as you like in those 6 months.......... you just cant work, or get married or claim anything from the countries resources while on a tourist visa

Depends where you are visiting. I would just say a short holiday and then go from there. If its England I believe they have just made some new local marriage laws so you had better check up on that before you proceed. They are very wary over here about people getting married just to live in England...marriages of convenience. Tread carefully.

It depends on the kind of visa of which you are applying...student visa? tourist visa? I wouldn't tell anyone you were visiting because of either work or a relationship. They will think you plan to get lost in the crowds and never go home. A marriage visa is very tough right now and has to be applied for outside of the US. It may take months.

Pleasure and romance. I have enough currency to look after myself while I am here. I wish to learn all about my potential spouses country, culture and language and I wish to find out more about them in a real world setting as we have bonded at so many levels.

As for the visa, contact the Immigration service or even your local CAB who will let you know who to talk to.

Purpose of your visit: tourism.
That quite describes your purpose.
If the relationship is worth pursuing
*and* you want to marry, the visa
will be the last of your concerns
there...

Truth. If you get married and gave a different answer at immigration, you have problems.
