Potatoes which have green on them have been incorrectly stored in light. The green is poisonous if too much of it is eaten. The best way to deal with potatoes which have gone green is to throw out.

They say the green part contains a poison, so I always cut it off, and the rest of the spud is perfectly OK. I should imagine that you have to eat a fair amount of it before you'd get any real effects, although you might get a touch of the squirts!

Well financially it could be a problem as you would have to buy loads of bog roll. Other effects include a smelly house after the event and then a few days in bed with stomach cramps.......best to just bin them if they're green then eh?

It depends on how it's cooked. If its boiled, it's fine. However, do not fry it or cook it in oil. It's poisonous. Not lethal, but could make you ill.
