Once you get put on meds and they are regulated, usually the bi-polar stays pretty even. You have to deal with it for the rest of your life, but as long as you stay on your meds and take the right amount, all you generally need is an adjustement every now and again. The person won't usually get worse unless they just stop meds all of a sudden, and the disorder really doesn't progress any farther than it is when the person is diagnosed and starts treatment. Good luck.

Bipolar is something that is dealt with over a lifetime, though once it is diagnosed and medicated will generaly stay at a constant level. Missing medication doses can make it seem like it generally isn't. I try to keep my dose up but sometimes I enjoy falling into the blackness and just letting my imagination go. For me I find this my most expressional time.
Hope this helps.
