There are 4 kittens living in a shed behind my apartment. They defiitely at least have something wrong with thier eyes, and I want to help them out, especially get them nuetered or spayed. Only if I get them caught, I don't want to lose them to do it all over. Also, any ideas on trapping them humanely ?

If not very wary of humans, kittens may be trapped by leaving a strong large carton box open with some detectable food in a stable unbreakable bowl, then springing up to shut and tape secure but with breathing holes when one or more is inside. Carton is like a padded cell. If it's cold, company will keep each other warm. Pre- and post- neuter care is humane as immunity and fighting fitness will be lower.

Hi there!

I was going to construct an outdoor cat enclosure for my 2 indoor-outdoor cats becuase we have a LOT of racoons and squirrels in this new place we moved into. But I found a short-cut. I bought a chain-link dog run from Petsmart for $217 and its accompanying "roof" for another $50.00 and made a few adjustments for my kitties. The pen is huge (6 ft high x 7.5 wide x 13 ft long). The chainlinks are too small for my 2 cats to escape from but just to make sure that the overly freindly racoons couldn't stick their paws and snouts through them I wrapped chicken wire around the bottom half of my enclosure. Then I proceeded to make the inside of the enclosure a cat haven: decorated it with driftwood (for the cats to scratch); littered it with wooden crates (makes excellent cat tunnels) and put in several pots of grass for good measure. I will add a cat "tree" with perches as soon as I get the wood and find my energy.

You don't need an enclosure as large as the one I got of course. Petsmart also sells smaller dog runs - I think the 7.5 x 7.5 x 4ft high is just a bit over $100. Of course you can get wire cat cage, but I found those toooo small for an adult cat.

If you live in the country then no it is not a good idea coyotes got 8 of my cats over the 9 months and I was super sad Just one cat is sad enough imagine 8! And cats can get fleas and they get dirty and if they are not spayed or nuetered......uh oh then you will have even more kitties! And the cats might leave and you cant find them. So I would suggest keeping them inside.

Place some food in a cat carrier and once they are in there close it up and bring them to a animal shelter to get checked out and then get them fixed. It would be cruel though to let them back out on their own to possibly starve, get run over by a vehicle, become abused, face harsh elements if it is a cold climate, or get killed by another animal. Bring them to a no kill shelter and let the shelter place them in a home. Perhaps you yourself could adopt one or two of them!!

Good luck. You are doing the right thing it is heartbreaking to see kittens, or any animal abandoned.

I suggest that you take them to a pet shelter...thats really the best way to go. That way you can't get into any trouble in any kind of way.

(e.g taking someone else's kittens, but ur not doing that though are you so dont worry!!)

I hope the kittens are OK because i lurrrv kitties and i wish you good luck 4 tha kitties' sake!! :)
