They have been bothering me for a while now, the left more than the right, they don't hurt or sting or feel too dry or to wet, and the white part is not red, they just feel tense, if I am just looking around the room at nothing in particular they feel ok and I can keep them open but if I try to look at some specific like words in a book they automaticly feel tense and want to close, I can get temporary relief if I close them for a few minutes or if I rub my forhead above my eyebrows or along the bones under them, I went to my eye doctor and he said I have dry eyes and gave me eye drops but they don't do anything but make my eyes sting, the pink part in the inside corners is a little swollen but not enough that you can tell unless you look close, they feel the same whether the room is light or dark so I don't think they are light sensitive, it is more annoying than anything, any ideas what the problem is?

Well, for one, you may want to see another eye doctor, as it sounds like you have bad "eye strain"....and usually a prescription for glasses can help that. Also, if you use the computer alot or around florencent lights alot, those both will cause a great deal of strain on your eyes. If you already wear glasses, the prescription could be wrong and needs to be changed. Another symptom of eye strain is headaches. You don't always get them, but can. I hope you can see another doc and get help, as I know how umcomfortable that can be "from experience".

I get that if I've had a bad run of migraines and havent' been able to get off the screens long enough to get over them properly. that would equate to light sensitivity as well. Not swollen eyes though. I would suggest that you use the proper precautions to avoid eyestrain looking on screens ( loads about this on answers). If possible give your eyes a break from TV/computer for a couple of days and get them out in the fresh air with a bit of exercise where you aer only using your distance vision but I know that can be awkward. If that and the new glasses don't fix it make an appointment with the doctor. Do drink enough as well - i'm a real fan of making sure of this when you are on computer screens as it helps with a lot of issues including headaches and dry eyes. It is very easy to dehydrate when working on a screen . Water not tea and coffee.

Since you receive some degree of relief when rubbing above and below the eyes, is suggestive of a nerve problem. The nerve exits above the eye and on the inside of the cheek bone.. if you find the notch in the eyebrow and it is tender, you have pressed on the nerve involved. The same nerve exits in a hole in the skull, found on the inner aspect of the cheek prominence..If this condition is evident, indicates an inflammatory process of the cranial nerves... one or more. May find relief by seeing a doctor of Chiropractic. You apparently are not a candidate for glasses, if you have already seen your eye doctor.

Computers, bad-diet and fatigue give me a similiar reaction if that's any help. If I've been working at a computer for a while, my eyes tend to dry and feel strained. Most people don't blink adequately whilst using computers/watching TV and this really dries your eyes out. Caffeine makes this worse as it keeps me 'wired' even when I'm really to fall asleep- that makes it feel as if my eyes are bulging.

Looks like this is something to do with your mind. You are too concerned about your eyes. Try not to think about it atleast for a while and keep washing your eyes with mineral water for atleast 5 times a day. It will cool your eyes and you will be fresher too.

see an opthamologist. My eyes started doing that and when they started to swell inside,it was'nt long before they swelled shut. Are your eyelids droopy at all?I have Blepharitis..You'll have to look it up in search ,it's way too much information to type out.But it is serious so get your eyes checked again.
