The new Baleno is a car that is taller, wider and longer than the outgoing model. It has better interiors and is based on the SUZUKI SX4 but has a boot. Interiors are same as the SX4(Search the web for pictures). But it will retaain the current 1.6L engine in order to save costs. However the new Baleno is expected to cost around 7-8lakhs.

With the new model a few weeks away, Maruti is offering huge discounts on its present stock. The dealer may give away the car for several ten thousands less if you push enough. If your budget allows a bit of stretching, go for it. Expect a huge drop in resale value though.

The prices of second hand cars are also likely to drop once the model is phased out. Atleast ask the owner of the car to give you more discounts. The Baleno is worth the money- it has got performance, ride quality, air conditioning, relaibility and low maintanance costs as well.

It is always good to buy a second hand old version after the new version has been launched because you are likely to get a better price.
Having said that Maruti vehicles carry a premium in the used car category because of reliability and easy service access. So don't expect prices to drop too much. The Baleno (current) is a boring looking car, but a great performer. You might actually find better bargains with the (old) Honda City 1.5lit.

Hi Gaurav. Yes Maruti is going to stop the production of current Baleno. The new baleno will have new looks, new interiors, more interior space and regarding price, it will cost around 50K more than existing model. I dont think after launch of New baleno, the cost of used cars is going to drop.

Cheers,
Jay
