I just have a question. I was wondering if anybody knows any programs out there to help families with children for christmas. I have some friends who really don't have much at all and have fallen on hard times andI was wondering if anybody new of any programs that helped enrich Christmas for the children or what there is out there. Christmas is for families and being together but I just wanted to see if there is any way I can help them feel more like "normal" times...they have very young children but not alot of money. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Seasons' Greetings:

I don't know what area you are from but my family is living in BC Canada and local recreation centres, libraries and other family facilities have events to do for kids to enjoy and get the spirit from Christmas.(NO CHARGE) I know it doesn't need to be a lot just enough to let the children remember cherish moments they can take to their adult hood. Look into any Community Centre and see what they have going on. We just had a free Children's singer come into a mall and sing "Charlotte Diamond" the kids love her and it was absolutely free. Good Luck and Much Love for a wonderful Holiday Season.

Your a great person to want to help a needing friend. However we all know the reason for the season and we also like to give from the heart as well, as the previous person said add your friends children to a Christmas Wish List, Toy for Tots or something like that. My Employer and several others have a Christmas Toy Drive each year from the different Christmas Wish List organizations in the area, they are a great resource.

It's certainly proactive of you to ask. I do not know where you are coming from but I suggest that you try to search for non-profit, non-government organizations in your locale who may have christmas programs or gift-giving activities. If there are, you can apply the children that you know. Also, try to coordinate with clubs, organizations, fraternities, churches or offices who often have outreach programs this time of the year. If your search proved to be unfruitful (which I doubt), you can be the giver by encouraging your friends, family members to support you in treating the children for a memorable christmas meal or an unconditional gift-giving.

All the blessings to you! Have a merry christmas! :)

Help them yourself, if you're able to. This is much more private for them and also cements a friendship.

If you can't...Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Shop with a cop and a Trucker (don't laugh it's real), Crosslines, Soul's Harbor, most churches.... ask around, but be discreet. many folks that are poor, whether temporary or permanent, don't like to be paraded about. They think it's shameful to be poor; even if they work or want to work.
