It's only a kitten (maybe 3 months) and I find it inside of the litter bag just chowin' down. Is it just f***in' stupid or is kitty litter some kinda mystery delicacy that I have never heard of?

I even set him right in front of his food and he just doesn't like it quite so much. I already hid the litter bag, and he doesn't like the used litter (ack :P) so all should be well

Litter is often composed of calcium. Mommy cat probably didn't take in enough during her gestation period. Try a calcium based kitty chow. No more disgusting litter eating.

Some cats are just weird as they sometimes chew things which are not food like paper litter or silica gel litter. There must be something in these which is tasty. But some litter are made from food leftover like the bean curd litter. Many times a cat would eat this litter because to some it is tasty. Find out the composition of your litter because it varies. It can be made of wood, paper, small pebbles coated, bean curd, silica gel , etc. Maybe you have to change the litter made of wood because as far as I know, I have never heard of a cat swallowed this, maybe this is not tasty.

I have heard from various vets and Cat Fancy mag that cats who eat their kitty litter are missing some vital minerals in their diet. Perhaps you should take your kitten to the vet and explain what's been going on. The vet will most likely do a blood workup on the kitten to see whats wrong (hopefully nothing serious) and tell you what supplements to feed the kitten to stop this behavior and help the cat get healthy again.

Hopefully the kitty litter isn't the clumpable kind because if a cat ingests this type of litter it can be very dangerous. The reason is that once the litter becomes wet it hardens inside the stomach and clogs the digestive tract. Your vet can verify this as a good friend lost a cat to this unfortunate circumstance.

LOL!
Do you actually feed the cat food as well, or just let it find it's own meal? Because if it doesn't know where it's cat food is, it will eat anything....I should know...ours eat anything paper/cardboard when the food dishes get moved >.>

better hide the litter bag somewhere inaccessible to the kitten And I hope it is not the clumping kind coz that could cause intestinal blockages and kill them if ingested.

WOW! Craziness.
I think that if your cat is otherwise cared for (ie has food, water and what not) that you now have a vet to surprise with this finding.

maybe coz it doesn't like the cat food you give it...
also, maybe that kitten gets sick of "old" food and wants "new" food... that's why it moves on to find new type of "food"
cats can be divilish and little gods/godesses...

You might want to try feeding the thing.
It will eat what it finds if its hungry.
Either that or its mentally disabled.
