Are you taking this for depression or as a sleep aid? As far as depression goes, it's usually used as mood stabilizer and in conjuction with another antidepressant. If you have a problem with fluctuating moods, this may help quite a bit. If you're using it to help with sleep, it also works very well for that and can actually reset your circadian rhythm. This has been the only medication I've ever taken that helped me sleep. I was on it for about 2 years before and even though it has a short 1/2 life, it did not seem to be habit-forming, as I had no trouble getting off it. For me, it had zero side effects.

i was given trazadone for insomnia, though i don't like it, so i don't take it. i have tried it a couple of times, it's okay, but for the best effect, you should take it nightly. i'd rather take something on an as needed basis so i don't take it. if you look up the side effects on webmd they sound worse than the insomnia. sometimes it is prescribed for depression too, i never took it long enough to notice an overall difference. i guess the main reason i answered this question is to advise you not to drink alcohol with this or any other drug, doing so could cause severe internal damage. read the side effects.

I don't know what I'd do without it. I'm bipolar & have difficulty sleeping. Trazodone not only aid in sleeping but originally was developed to treat depression. It also helps to control pain - I have arthritis & notice the difference when I forget to take it. I'm not aware of any adverse side effects for myself.

It has always been the best medicine I have taken for sleeping. I take 250 mgs a night though, so it may not work that way for you. I have to say though that with all the others I have tried, this one has been by far the best for me.

I took trazadone about two years ago for insomnia, it didn't work well at all. It really didn't do anything for me.
