Here's a story... This guy I know is my best friend. I love him. He loves me. Of course, the story doesn't end there. I'm only 14- my parents said I could date this specific guy when I was 15. That happens in 5 months. The problem is that I'm not sure my parents will really let us "date" when I'm 15. (movies without my brother inbetween, holding hands, kissing sometimes... going places alone... etc.) Is that to much to ask? The guy is 16, super respectful, and has already been waiting for about a year and 2 months. I've known him for like a year and a half. What do you think is appropriate?

If you want to be treated like an adult by your parents, then act like one. Sit them down and have a real conversation. Tell them what you plan, and most importantly, be honest with them. Reassure them that if or when you do go places alone, you'll still be in a public place, like the mall or to the movies. And let them know that you're responsible enough to handle this kind of relationship. A few kisses here and there are no big deal ( and I am saying this as a mother!), but be sure it goes no further. If you're not ready for anything else DON'T let him talk you into it. You will regret it for the rest of your life.

Respect your parent's wishes and hold off for a whole 5 more months. It's not that long. And hopefully you can communicate how long you've waited to date this guy out of respect for their wishes... because you love and respect them.

Parents can be your biggest cheerleaders, or your toughest challengers... 'usually' it's up to you which side of that fence you put them on.

You are permitted to be with him as a friend. Look at the good in what you have. Dating could lead you down the wrong path. And that's not all but if you really are meant to be with him, you will be able to make progress in your relationship without dating. Good luck!
