Why should Christians be so eager for Christ's return when so many people clearly aren't ready to get into heaven? (...i.e., according to some tenets of Christianity)

Because deep in their delusional little hearts they each think that they are special in the eyes of god and that he loves them and reveals knowledge and wisdom to them and that he will whisk them away into heaven while their loved ones burn in and everlasting torturous fire.

Many Christians that subscribe to the belief that the rapture will occur and that they will be saved believe that they have lived a full and good enough life be one of the 144,000 that will be saved before the rapture. What they do not realise is that there are probably more than 144 million Christians that also believe the same thing.

Certain things need to come to pass, like the gospel be preached to all the world, the days of the Gentiles be fulfilled, etc before the rapture. Jesus taught that we will not know the exact date of His second coming but the season of His coming. In the meantime we are exhorted to be faithful Christians and make our faith real by helping others in need so that we build treasures in heaven. Christains make themselves ready to receive Jesus by helping others and not the you way you have understood.

This is true. I feel ready, but then there are those days that I don't and I know I shouldn't feel that way. I usually read my Bible or talk to another Christian to get away from those feelings.

Not all of us... some of us hope not to see it in their life time. I have too many people I love that arent believers I would hate to leave behind.

people are nuts lets just put it that way, they say people who believe in aliens are crazy and then they turn around and say the end of the world is happening with floods..... crazyness

Because they feel that as long as THEY are the ones being saved, it ok.
