I have a big-screen TV with a large wooden heavy entertainment system around it.
What jacks do I need access to, to hook up a camcorder to a TV set?
I have a couple jacks in front of the set.
My front inputs are: S-VIDEO, VIDEO, and AUDIO_L/R
I don't want to get a camcorder if I have to get behind my big set.
Thanks.

Okay simple answer, i was in your position last year.

You have the choice of

S-Video to S-Video
or
Three Phono's to S-Video
or
Jack to Three Phono's

If I was you I would go for Jack to Three Phono's, as I have tried all the others, and this is the only one that neve broke or got any interference.

Hope this helps...

There are a few ways that camcorders output their signal for transfer to television or computer.

1. A/V output (RCA and/or S-Video, Analog output)
2. USB (for computer, digital output)
3. Firewire/IEEE 1394 (for computer, much faster than USB, digital output)

Most camcorders have analog outputs for the purpose of playback on a television or dubbing to VCR. Those fit one of the two video inputs on the front of your TV, S-Video or RCA jack.

This feature is so standard on camcordrs that this detail seems to be left out of the camera specs that you see online.

Look on the camera specs for the inclusion of "A/V cable" or "stereo/video cables".
